Matt Allwright

Best known for the hit BBC1 show Rogue Traders, Matt Allwright is a brilliant presenter and an expert in consumer habits and journalism. Presenter of Watchdog and broadcast journalist, Mark is witty, versatile and distinctive in all his presenting credits and live facilitation and hosting.

Matt used Rogue Traders as a platform to bring forward his ability to be at the forefront of ground breaking journalism, alongside his effortless and charming delivery. His delightful wit and ease in front of the camera meant a move from broadcast journalism to front of camera stardom, was inevitable.

At the age of 21 his ideal opportunity came along – the chance to present BBC1’s Rogue Traders.  Matt made the format his own, injecting his own brand of humour into his scripts and displaying true grit in the thrilling confrontations which end the show.

Matt’s efforts have blossomed into a number of other prime-time opportunities, making him a true face of BBC1.  In 2003, Scambusters took the Rogue Traders idea overseas to turn the tables on con artists who target us Brits. Brassed Off Britain campaigned for better service for British customers, culminating in a live studio debate with the captains of 10 national industries. In 2004 Fat Nation, a major BBC1 campaign, took the fight for healthier living into the front rooms and fridges of the UK, as it took over an entire street in Birmingham for 9 weeks.

2005 saw the 4th series of Rogue Traders continue to scale new heights in audience figures and critical acclaim as it was regularly the country’s favourite factual watch.

Matt can be seen as one of the major anchors of Watchdog, helping expose Britain’s scams. He also acts as a roaming investigative journalist for The One Show on the BBC, reporting with his characteristic warmth and wit.

Alongside his broadcasting commitments Matt also presents on the radio and writes, he was nominated for PPA columnist of the year in 2013.
