Comedian and columnist, Shazia Mirza, is an award-winning British Asian Muslim stand-up comedian from Birmingham England. Shazia's comedy covers a range of subjects that include: everyday observational, pop culture and current affairs. When not on stage, or hosting an event, Shazia can be found writing for The Guardian and The Financial Times.
Shazia Mirza is a talented British Comedian and writer, originally from Birmingham however she now spends most of her time touring all over the world. Shazia is an experienced awards host or stand-up act, suited for any corporate occasion.
Shazia started doing stand-up in 2000 and she quickly became a star of the comedy industry, selling out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe festivals and venues across the globe, her comedy career quickly gathered momentum. These days Shazia travels the world and has toured the US, Sweden, Denmark, France, Holland and Germany. She has also appeared on numerous established TV shows including Have I Got News For You, Richard and Judy, The Graham Norton Show, she was the subject of a BBC 2 First Sight Documentary and survived 2017’s Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls.
The Observer named her as one of the Top 10 Female Comedians and in 2010 she won the Arts and Culture Award at the AWA Awards.
In addition to being a talented comedian, Shazia is also a writer; she has written columns for the New Statesman and was a weekly columnist in the Guardian Weekend Magazine with her column, ‘Diary of a Disappointing Daughter’.
