8 Alternative Corporate Entertainment Acts to Wow Your Audience

10 January 2019

Over the last few years we’ve seen a subtle shift in a desire from event organisers to entertain their audience over and above the traditional comedian , sports personality  and after-dinner speaker .

Whether it’s for client or employees, from summer parties to quarterly town halls, and everything in between, corporate entertainment has moved to understanding that to leave a lasting impression, sometimes going outside the box can deliver startling results.

We’ve gone through our black book of contacts and picked out some of the most memorable entertainment options  we can think of to spoil you for choice this year.

1) Impressionists

Everyone loves a good impressionist and especially one who can switch characters instantly, satirising today’s events in one fell swoop.

One of the best is  Rory Bremner,  a firm favourite on the corporate circuit, who brings his repertoire of over 100 characters to life at any moment. He has twice won the British Comedy Award for Top Male Performer as well as BAFTA’s Best Light Entertainment Award, and a sure-fire hit with every audience.

2) Wine Tasting

From intimate groups to larger team-building away days, wine tasting has been a firm favourite on the corporate scene. Tom Surgery  is not only the director at a luxury English Sparkling Wine business part of the popular Three Wine Men tour, but a charismatic and energetic host as we found out here at Speakers Corner.

Tom popped in one Friday afternoon in November and  Holly  was a big fan!

Tom was a lot of fun. His knowledge was seriously extensive, any wine, any region, any bits of trivia, he knew it all. I could think of so many audiences who would enjoy his sessions.

3) Handwriting Expert

It turns out graphologisits, or handwriting experts as they are better known, can light up an event and bring audiences together.

Emma Bache  is one handwriting expert, who came into visit us here at Speakers Corner. With some trepidation, we had to provide samples of our handwriting and had our character analysed. But the session was a lot of fun, we learnt how graphology can be used to find the right personality matches in personal and corporate relationships, how it has been used in court, and examined famous celebrities. Head of Account Management  Lucy  enjoyed the visit...

I loved Emma - she was SO funny and interesting. What she could tell from your handwriting alone was incredible – Emma would be brilliant for ice breakers, team building and after dinners!

4) Freestyle Rap

Brimming with punchy one-liners and rapid freestyle raps, Chris Turner  is a talented comedian and the founder of improv troupe Racing Minds. He is one of the best up-and-coming comics in the UK, having performed numerous sell-out festival shows and at corporate events.

Chris popped into see us just before Christmas and came up with a freestyle rap based on suggestions, we gave him. Off the cuff. entertaining and completely different, we’re still talking about the time Chris popped in even now!

5) Artistic Performers

Corporate event organisers are spoilt for choice when it comes to performance artists to wow an audience.

However, for something a little different, the Evolve Shadow Show could be just the ticket to set up your event.

Performed by highly skilled acrobats, the show takes audiences on a journey through the history of mankind while incorporating your company logo, brand and themes within the set.

6) Outdoor Entertainment

Keeping your guests entertained outdoors can be a challenge, but the Hedge Men and Flower People could be one way to spark conversation as the day carries on.

One of the most quirky, outrageous and downright silly walkabout entertainment acts, these cheeky shrubs walk, talk and cuddle their way around events across the globe.

Guaranteed to be remembered long after your guests have returned home, they look exactly like the real thing only better, bigger, noisier and funnier. The question is - are you brave enough to have a selfie with them and risk becoming part of the entertainment...!

7) Could It Be Magic?

If you’re looking to add the WOW factor and leave guests talking about your event for years to come, then a magic act is one option you can’t ignore.

Big name stars such as Dynamo, who is the most talked about magician of a generation, amazing humans across the planet, from the streets of Harlem to the Cannes Film Festival. Or, acts like  Alex Crow  are immensely popular up and down the country.

Alternatively, you could consider an act like Christopher Howell , who uses magic to illustrate how everyone can think more creatively, innovate and communicate more effectively

Magicians have wowed audiences for centuries, so don't be surprised if they make your wishes come true.

8) A Musical Performance

The energy from a musical performance can have an overwhelming feel good, positive impact on an audience.

With a wide variety of acts on the circuit, we turned to this recommendation from Helena , who saw the Kingdom Choir perform at the Union Chapel.

A naturally enthusiastic and heartwarming performance, they covered traditional and modern tunes woven into a story from the Windrush generation to the Royal Wedding. I loved their sound, full of heart and totally uplifting!

So we hope that’s whetted your appetite when it comes to choosing your next entertainment act . With so many options out there, why not give us a call to run through your event, its theme and objectives, your audience and we’ll be happy to provide some suggestions.
