Bestival 2015

11 September 2015

There's one last hurrah for summer musical events with  Bestival  taking place this weekend, although it's debatable, meteorologically speaking (see earlier news item), on whether this event should in fact be attached to our warmest season.

Putting such linguistic and classification concerns aside for now, it simply means this weekend is about - in a word, entertainment, or outside entertainment should one allow an extra adjective. Bestival, taking place on the Isle of Wight, could be considered to be the Summer swan song of the outside musical event allowing musicians, one more time, to look across a sea of rain hooded crestfallen faces while the British weather does its very best to break that very special spiritual connection between fan and band.

Headline acts include 80s wild boys, Duran Duran; 90s break beat bro's - The Chemical Brothers and Missy Elliott asks the county of Wight to get their freak well and truly on. Going beyond your typical music fest' Bestival includes areas dedicated to comedy - with Abandoman starring ; The Amphitheatre showcasing short plays & 'mind expanding musings'; and Bollywood - a 'gloriously coloured' themed area for DJ sets and cocktails.

One hopes the weather holds out for all involved down on The Isle. Updates can be found on the  official Bestival Twitter feed  with Channel 4 showing highlights over the next couple of days.
