Confex Taken Over by Mash Media

8 October 2013

The UK’s flagship trade event, Confex, has been sold to publisher Mash Media. The deal was closed at the end of September for an undisclosed sum by Mash managing director, Julian Agostini.

The general consensus is that people are positive about the takeover and waiting to see what is next for Confex when it relaunches. Vice President of business development at George P Johnson, Kevin Jackson, stated that “I’m sure most people would agree that the event was beginning to run low on inspiration.”

Julian Agostini has told event professionals that the event will be moving from London Excel and they are looking into various other locations, another change he hopes to implement is a hosted buyer programme.

Director of TFI, Simon Maier hopes to see a greater involvement of technology and innovation in Confex exhibitions and said “the old chestnut of getting government involved in what, after all, is an industry that has been good to and for them would be and excellent idea.”
