Facebook Billionnaires Crack Forbes Rich List

Facebook executives celebrate today as six of their top dogs enter the ranks of the world’s richest in the Forbes Billionnaire list.

Founder Mark Zuckerberg remains on top of the Facebook financiers with an estimated worth of $13.5 billion. Co-founder Dustin Moskovitz is the youngest billionaire on the list at only 26, and is joined by fellow founder Eduardo Saverin. Investors Sean Parker and Russian Yuri Milner are also new to the ranks.

“The Facebook Six" is completed by investor Peter Thiel, who fell from 828th place to 833th on the list, despite increasing his wealth to $1.5 billion from $1.2 billion.

This year Forbes welcomes 214 new billionaires to the rankings, compared with only 97 in last year's crop. China leads the way with the most new billion-dollar fortunes, and Russia comes in second. The top industries producing these new tycoons are energy, followed by fashion and retail.

The world's richest man remains Mexican Telecoms tycoon Carlos Slim Helu, who topped the list for a second year. and increased his wealth by $20.5bn to $74bn.

Microsoft boss Bill Gates was second with $56bn and investor Warren Buffett was third with $50bn dollars.

Property tycoons David and Simon Reuben were second on the UK rich list with $8bn, followed by high street mogul Sir Philip Green with $7.2bn.

Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson, landowner Charles Cadogan and Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone were next, each with a fortune of $4.2bn.

And other UK billionaires included Harry Potter author JK Rowling who is worth $1bn and has been on the list for a number of years.
The richest UK resident was Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, who was sixth richest in the world, with a $31.1bn fortune.
