Meet The Team: Lydia Thomas
We sat down with our Logistics Coordinator, Lydia, about X
You've had a month to settle in now, how are you finding working here at the Speakers Corner Towers?
I am absolutely thrilled to be working at Speakers Corner. It is a real privilege to work and interact with a range of different speakers. The team is more like a family and not a day has passed where I haven’t laughed. Bring on 2020 at Speakers Corner.
Making the move to London recently from Bristol, how are you finding life in The Big Smoke?
I have fallen in love with the big smoke, it has been a crazy first month and it is safe to say the city does not sleep and I have not stopped! No two days have been the same and there is so much to see and explore. Its diverse mix of people and cultures is fascinating, and I am excited to see what else the city has to offer. On the other hand, the transition to the London underground has been interesting and after a few mishaps, I’ve learnt my lesson to check that I am always on the right tube in the right direction!
We are always looking for recommendations for places to see, what are some fun places you’ve been to in London?
As a newbie to London I have lots to experience, however I am making the most of it already! I recently went to Blues Kitchen in Shoreditch which is a fabulous blues bar, where you can experience a live blues band and delicious food. My recommendation for a perfect Sunday, is to visit Angel’s Farmers market it is a lovely market hosting a range of different food stools and tasters! Followed by a tasty roast dinner at The Pig and Butcher (a must have if you’re a foodie).
We hear you're sucker for new experiences and adventures. Any fun plans on the horizon?
With 2020 fast approaching, this is the perfect time to starting planning new adventures for the upcoming year ahead. I have recently attended my first ever comedy show and loved every second, so I am eager to experience more of these. I also have a passion for wine, and last year visited a wine vineyard in England. I would love to expand this and visit a wine vineyard in beautiful Europe next summer. Lastly, its been on my mind to challenge myself to do the three-peak challenge, and climb the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales… check back in with me next year to find out if this does happen.
Since you love hosting dinners, what’s your Dream Dinner guest party? Limited to 6 seats at the table
Piers Morgan, Cillian Murphy, Michelle Obama, Jack Whitehall, Helena Bonham Carter and Stormzy. A vast mix of Dinner guest which would be a vest interesting and one not to forget dinner party.
What might we find you doing outside of the office?
Outside the office, you will find me doing a mixture of things and I sure do keep busy. I start the week off with hot yoga and spinning. As well as, searching cookbooks for fresh exciting recipes to knock up. Then I’m always trying to find a new delicious restaurant as I am a confessed foodie! I often venture down to Brixham in South Devon to visit the family with long coastal walks and tons of seafood. Alongside this, I love experiencing festivals and gigs, I recently went to Croatia to attend a festival and most recently visited Alexander Place in London – amazing venue for a gig! Next festival on the cards is Glastonbury.
