A global economist  and author, Dr. Dambisa Moyo analyses the macroeconomy and international affairs, drawing on her unique set of skills and experiences in business, academia, and public policy.

She has spoken to some of the world’s most established corporations including Deloittes, Capital Group and Investec, and she has also spoken at TED Global.

Her passion for global economics and her thirst for first-hand knowledge of the world has taken Dambisa to over 50 different countries over the last decade, during which time she has developed a unique expertise on the political, economic and financial workings of emerging economies, in particular the BRICs and the frontier economies in Asia, South America, Africa, and the Middle East.

In particular, her work examines the interplay of international business and the global economy, while highlighting the key opportunities for investment. On the podium, she discusses everything from where to invest, why to invest, risk vs. uncertainty, and where macro-economic policy is headed.

Dambisa worked as an economist at Goldman Sachs for nearly a decade and was a consultant to the World Bank in Washington, D.C. She serves on the boards of Barclays Bank (the financial services group), SABMiller (the global brewer), and Barrick Gold (the global miner).

She was named by TIME Magazine as one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World,” and, in 2013, she was awarded the Hayek Lifetime Achievement Award.

Dambisa is a contributing editor to CNBC, and her writing regularly appears in economic and finance-related publications such as the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal.

Her books ‘Dead Aid: Why Aid is Not Working and How There is a Better Way for Africa’ and ‘How the West Was Lost: Fifty Years of Economic Folly and the Stark Choices Ahead’ were both New York Times best-sellers.

In 2012, she published ‘Winner Take All: China’s Race for Resources and What it Means for the World’, which premiered at #13 on the New York Times best-seller list.

Dambisa completed her undergraduate degree in Chemistry, holds a Masters degree in Public Administration from Harvard University, has a PhD in Economics from Oxford University, and earned an MBA in Finance at American University in Washington, D.C.

In 2013, Dambisa was part of a small group of global policymakers and economists who spent time with China's President Xi Xingping in Beijing, where they discussed issues of global economic growth, poverty, income inequality and the environment.
