Tessa Sanderson

With a record-breaking six Olympic games under her belt, including a gold medal in 1984, Tessa is a role model and household name. Other medals she has won include three Commonwealth Golds and a World Cup Gold in Cuba in 1990.

The 2004 New Years’ Honours list garnered Tessa a CBE in recognition of her services to sport. This followed her OBE in 1997 in recognition of her charity work, and her 1985 MBE in honour of her Olympic Gold medal.

In 2004 Tessa was awarded the Sunday Times Life Times Achievement Award for her dedication to sport. She has also been voted Sports Personality of the Year and Athlete of the Year, three times, by the Athletics Writers Association.

Tessa is still involved in sport and founded the Tessa Sanderson Sports Foundation & Academy, based in Newham which was host to the London 2012 games. She was also a board member of the Olympic Park Legacy Company which oversaw the ensuring that the Olympic Park would benefit residents of Newham and the wider area for generations to come.

Sports News presenter for over two years at Sky, Tessa has also presented for the BBC, ITV and Bloomberg, as well as prolific work on Talk Sport, and a guest appearance on The Wright Stuff.

Her motivational presentation is called Path To Glory, which touches upon her inspirations and what drove her to become Olympic Champion.
