The Horne Section
The Horne Section is a six-piece comedy jazz band led by Alex Horne, creator and co-host of the BAFTA and National Comedy Award-winning Taskmaster, combining five outstanding professional musicians with one gleefully non-musical stand-up. The band has starred in two series of their Channel 4 sitcom, The Horne Section TV Show, performed at venues from the London Palladium to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, and recorded live podcast episodes at Leicester Square Theatre with guests including Sam Campbell and Reece Shearsmith. Their ability to adapt transforms corporate events, awards ceremonies, and after-dinner occasions into joyful, high-octane experiences where sophisticated musicianship meets brilliantly silly comedy, leaving audiences energised and genuinely entertained.
After more than 60 dates across the country, Alex Horne's six-piece comedy band will film their latest live show at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon in June 2026, marking another landmark moment for a group that has transformed the landscape of British comedy entertainment. Led by Horne, creator and co-host of the BAFTA and National Comedy Award-winning television phenomenon Taskmaster, The Horne Section combines five outstanding professional musicians with one gleefully non-musical stand-up to deliver a spectacle that transforms formal gatherings into joyful, high-octane experiences where sophisticated musicianship meets brilliantly silly comedy.
Alex Horne's credentials extend far beyond his role in one of Britain's most successful comedy formats. The band has starred in two series of their own Channel 4 sitcom, The Horne Section TV Show, described by The Guardian as "riotously fun and an utter delight" and by The Sunday Times as "a first-class comedy". Their iTunes chart-topping podcast continues to evolve, with live recordings now taking place at Leicester Square Theatre throughout spring 2026 before selected celebrity guests including Sam Campbell, Ivo Graham, Reece Shearsmith, Jordan Brookes, and Harry Hill. The band members themselves have performed with recording artists from Robbie Williams and Florence and the Machine to George Ezra and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. They've appeared on The Last Leg, served as the in-house band for Peter Crouch's Year-Late Euros on BBC One, and made history as the only band to ever host Never Mind The Buzzcocks. Their reach extends from sold-out Edinburgh Fringe runs spanning over five years to a two-hour special filmed at the London Palladium.
What makes The Horne Section exceptional for corporate events is their ability to read a room and adapt accordingly. They can create total audience immersion, getting over a thousand bankers on their feet for enthusiastic Zumba dancing with Alex, or deliver a brilliantly funny set without requiring any participation at all. For awards ceremonies, they provide the complete package: warming up audiences with their opening set, remaining on stage whilst Alex hosts, and playing stings as winners approach the stage. Their material is clever, absurd, and genuinely funny, transforming standard corporate entertainment into something audiences talk about for months. Whether delivering after-dinner cabaret or hosting full awards programmes, they bring unruly joy and surprisingly satisfying musicality that turns obligation into celebration.
