Back in 1964, long before The Goodies and even longer before he became famous as a wildlife presenter, Bill Oddie visited America. He went with a seminal troupe of Cambridge comedians that included John Cleese, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Graham Chapman and while their Review was garnering rave notices on Broadway, the young Oddie would sneak off during the day with his binoculars to spot birds and visit wildlife sanctuaries.
Now, 43 years on and he's touring the States again. Here, in a delightfully eye-opening ramble, he retraces his steps and discovers some unlikely wild inhabitants of New York, from the bin-raiding racoons of Central Park to a pair of celebrity red-tailed hawks who live on fashionable 5th Avenue.
