Frank Bruno and Trisha Goddard Raise Mental Health Awareness

17 December 2012

Frank Bruno and Trisha Goddard have raised mental health awareness and attended a charity event for Norwich Mind.

The much-loved boxer has faced a long battle against bipolar disorder and was sectioned under the Mental Health Act in 2003. Since then, he has been coming to terms with his condition and attended the Smile Ball to give confidence to others to do the same. Having earlier this year been interviewed by Piers Morgan, this time, Trisha Goddard had her chance.

Mr Gianfresco, Chief Executive of Norwich Mind, said of Trisha: ‘She was able to interview Frank about his experience in a very sensitive way; it’s not the easiest thing in the world to talk about.’

Trisha is the patron for the charity and over the years has worked tirelessly for mental health. She has previously worked on the Time to Change campaign with Frank and in 2011 was presented with a President’s Medal from The Royal College of Psychiatrists for her significant contributions to improving the lives of those with mental illness.

Mr Gianfresco was extremely grateful to the pair for their support by attending the event, stating that: ‘The two of them had a really good chemistry on the stage and I think that added a lot to the evening.’
