Belinda Parmar OBE is an empathy and transformation expert. As Founder and CEO of The Empathy Business (formerly Lady Geek), Belinda is transforming how companies understand and engage with their staff, customers and stakeholders, sharing why empathy matters and how it can be harnessed to deliver better business.
Awarded an OBE for services to the UK’s technology industry in 2014, alongside being nominated as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader in the same year, Belinda Parmar is founder and CEO of The Empathy Business (formerly known as Lady Geek), author of Little Miss Geek, and pioneer of the Global Empathy Index (supported by the WEF).
As the creator of the Global Empathy Index published in the Harvard Business Review, she works alongside CEOs and leaders of large organisations to transform companies using the science of empathy. Belinda changes cultures to bring more meaning and empowerment to people’s lives with a focus on Diversity and inclusion through empathy. Using clear examples Belinda educates companies on how nurturing a more empathetic culture will increase not only staff productivity but will make a real different to the bottom line.
An expert in behavioural science and nudge theory, Belinda works with large companies to implement hundreds of ‘empathy nudges’ that organically build an empathy revolution. Using her knowledge of technology, generational difference, and behavioural economics, Belinda gives companies the toolkit to truly make innovative changes.
Little Miss Geek, the not-for-profit arm of The Empathy Business, inspires young women to become Tech Pioneers through coding and games design workshops in London inner city schools. The project has been lauded in international publications including The New York Times, The Guardian, Financial Times, The Independent, Forbes, and WIRED. She is also the author of Little Miss Geek (second edition) & The Empathy Era and regularly writes for The World Economic Forum and The Guardian.
Her exuberant personality is as compelling as her innovative and unique brand. Able to host a panel debate or deliver a keynote speech, Belinda is an expert in empathy, behavioural economics, technology and the changing workforce.
Belinda is currently Empathy-In-Residence at Centrica, one of the world’s biggest energy companies and set up an Empathy Hub in Europe’s largest bank. Belinda was chosen in 2019 to speak at Davos as she is a Young Global Leader for the World Economic Forum. Belinda was awarded an OBE in 2015 by the Queen for her services to women in technology and was included in the top 20 Global Public Figures in Diversity in 2020.
