Cristina Criddle is the Financial Times’s Technology Correspondent, focusing on Artificial Intelligence from her base in San Francisco. Before this role, she spent three years as the FT’s Technology Correspondent in London.

An award-winning journalist, Cristina has covered the tech sector for a decade, frequently breaking exclusive stories on major tech companies like Meta, Google, OpenAI, and TikTok.

As a specialist speaker on Artificial Intelligence, Cristina explores AI's integration into the consumer market and its transformative impact on workplaces. She emphasises the need for regulation and action as the AI arms race raises significant questions for humanity.

Cristina previously reported on technology for the BBC, working across TV, radio, and online, including on the Today Programme and BBC Breakfast. She also produced the acclaimed BBC 3 documentary, The Instagram Effect, which included exclusive insights into the platform’s impact on wellbeing.

In 2022, following a series of stories on TikTok’s operations, ByteDance admitted to tracking Cristina through her cat’s account in an attempt to identify her sources, making her the only British journalist to be targeted this way. The surveillance included monitoring her physical location and personal information.
