Juan Enriquez is a bestselling author, academic, and business leader, widely regarded as one of the leading voices on the economic and political impact of life sciences. He is the Chairman and CEO of Biotechonomy LLC, a research and investment firm focused on the life sciences sector.
He was the Founding Director of the Harvard Business School Life Sciences Project and has authored several influential books, including As the Future Catches You, which explores how advances in genomics and biotechnology are reshaping daily life, work, and health. His later book, The Untied States of America, examines national success, decline, and the forces behind political and social fragmentation.
Juan has published numerous papers on global biotech data flows, innovation in the life sciences, and national competitiveness, and has been recognised for his work with awards such as the McKinsey Prize. His ideas have been featured in the Harvard Business Review, Time, Fortune, and Seed, among others.
He has served on several boards and advisory councils, including those linked to Harvard Medical School and Harvard’s David Rockefeller Center. Juan also took part in a major oceanic expedition led by Dr. Craig Venter, collecting genomic data across the globe and contributing to the discovery of numerous new microbial species.
Earlier in his career, he held senior policy and economic roles within the Mexican government, including Chief of Staff to the Secretary of State and lead negotiator during the Zapatista cease-fire.
