Dr Sophie Farooque started work as the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust clinical lead for adult allergy in May 2010. She is particularly known for her work in drug allergy.

Sophie's other clinical interests include the diagnosis and investigation of anaphylaxis, allergen immunotherapy and allergic rhinitis/nasal polyposis.

She has been a member of the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI) Standards of Care Committee which writes national allergy guidelines since 2007 and in 2012 she was voted onto the BSACI Council.

In 2008 she was runner-up in the MRC Max Perutz essay competition and her article describing aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease 'The Cold That Never Goes Away' was published in the Guardian.

In November 2010 she made a film about the history of the allergy department at St Mary's Hospital, which is the oldest in the country. She is regularly asked to contribute to articles about allergy in the national press and has appeared on BBC's 'The One Show' and 'City Hospital' and ITV's 'This Morning' programmes.
