Rachel Riley is a much-loved television presenter and mathematics advocate, best known as the numbers expert on Channel 4’s Countdown and a regular on the comedy spin-off 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. With a sharp mind and a quick wit, Rachel brings numbers to life for millions of viewers.

Away from the Countdown studio, Rachel has become a familiar face on a range of entertainment shows including Room 101, Top Gear, Would I Lie To You?, and It’s Not Rocket Science, and has raised impressive sums for charity on Celebrity Mastermind, The Chase, and Pointless Celebrities, among others.

A passionate Manchester United supporter, Rachel has also presented Fantasy Football Club and Friday Night Football on Sky Sports, and made regular appearances on Football Focus, Soccer AM and Follow the Football. She’s also featured on BBC Radio 5 Live and talkSPORT.

Alongside her broadcasting career, Rachel is a dedicated advocate for maths education and STEM engagement. With a degree in Mathematics from Oriel College, Oxford – where she studied subjects ranging from quantum theory to fluid mechanics – she’s determined to help make maths more accessible and enjoyable, especially for young people and girls.

Rachel supports several educational initiatives including Premier League Primary Stars, helping children develop confidence and ambition through sport and learning, and is a Global Ambassador for Grassroot Soccer, using football to drive positive social change around the world.

Her first book, At Sixes and Sevens: How to Understand Numbers and Make Maths Easy, was published in 2021, demystifying everyday maths with clarity and charm.

Known for her professionalism, intelligence and approachable style, Rachel is a confident and engaging speaker and presenter – equally at home hosting awards ceremonies, leading corporate events, or fronting brand campaigns. Whether she’s talking maths, sport or media, Rachel connects with audiences of all ages and backgrounds with ease.
