Author and keynote speaker Chris Baréz-Brown aims to help businesses, large and small, make work an environment where people show up and shine everyday. Previously a partner at the innovation company ‘What If’ and now founder of capability company ‘Upping Your Elvis’, Chris places creativity and people at the heart of the tools he provides to leaders and teams.
Innovation and creativity are firmly planted in the psyche of Chris Baréz-Brown, who believes that business growth is rooted in new ideas (and the people behind them).
As a keynote speaker, he aims to fire up fresh thinking in leaders and their teams; by sharing simple, everyday practices and instilling in his clients the confidence to take risks and do things differently.
Chris has worked with some of the world’s most successful brands. His results have produced tangible returns on investment for the likes of Unilever, Coca-Cola, The Nike Foundation, Roche, Diageo and WPP, who frequently call upon his unique and energetic approach to reinvigorate their employees’ passion for Monday mornings.
Determined to inject humanity back into business, he specialises in helping people reconnect with their inner genius and who they truly are. According to Chris, a happier team is more engaged at work and able to focus on practices that will make a difference. As a result, a company benefits from increased productivity, better communication, and more loyal staff.
Having set up ‘What If’’s capability practice, the workshops that Chris runs from his home in Dorset have become legendary amongst clients. In addition to breakthrough thinking and improved staff engagement, highlights include some excellent cooking, a decrepit 35-year-old Land Rover, and a cheeky cocker spaniel called Sparky.
Following his belief that ‘everyone can shine more brightly’, Chris founded ‘Upping Your Elvis’ in 2009 where he continues to spur individuals on to fulfil their creative potential and drive the agenda from within their organisations.
He also co-founded the not–for-profit global movement Street Wisdom in 2014, a modern urban accessible route to mindfulness.
Chris is flexible in meeting the exact needs of his client, drawing on his bestselling books as and when appropriate, including ‘How to Have Kick Ass Ideas’; Business Book of the Month ‘Shine: How to Survive and Thrive at Work’; and ‘Free: Love Your Work, Love Your Life’. He has spoken for a range of audiences, including for The Do Lectures and TedX.
His fourth book Wake Up! is set to launch in 2017 and addresses the problem of living on autopilot, instead of being conscious and connected - an issue that Chris considers a huge factor preventing us from living up to our potential. He argues that bad habits stifle progress, and, by breaking them, employees can reclaim their sense of professional freedom.
In 2016, Chris launched Wake Up! The App - a series of human, playful experiments designed to help us escape autopilot and live a more conscious, connected and extraordinary life.
