Mark Rice-Oxley

Mark Rice-Oxley is a news editor at the Guardian specialising in foreign news. He joined the Guardian after 10 years reporting and writing from Moscow, Paris and Eastern Europe, with his stories published in scores of titles worldwide. Mark has hosted many Guardian Live Events and is an excellent host, chair and moderator as well as a provoking speaker on mental health, drawing parallels with his own experiences of depression.

Mark was born in Hampshire in 1969, educated at Portsmouth Grammar School, Exeter University and Voronezh University in the USSR.

His first book, entitled 'Underneath the Lemon Tree', was published in 2012 and is an insightful memoir about his battle with depression. By telling his story, Mark hopes it will enable others to tell theirs.
