Sallie began her career as the Institutional Investor magazines top-ranked equity analyst covering the Wall Street firms. She worked her way up to become the chairman and CEO of Sandford C. Bernstein and Co, a US financial research company.
Since her initial success, Sallie has been the CEO of Citigroup’s Smith Barney Unit, where she was in charge of 13,000 brokers and analysts of the new retail brokerage unit. She was also hired to head Bank America’s new division after the acquisition of Merrill Lynch in 2009.
During her time at Merrill Lynch, Sallie became President of the wealth management unit and during this time she led the unit to $3.1 in profits. While at Merrill Lynch she also increased the number of financial advisors; in 2011 she employed over 16,000 advisors during a time when other companies were down-sizing.
Sallie’s successful career in Wall Street has resulted in her becoming a highly-respected business woman and she uses her experience to promote women in business and leadership. Sallie recently joined forces with Pax World Management to launch the first index fund that invests in the advancement of women.
