Michio Kaku | 13 June 2024

Michio Kaku traces the God Equation back to a rubber band: zoom into an electron, he argues, and instead of a dot you find a tiny vibrating string, and different vibrations produce different particles, electrons rotating into neutrinos, neutrinos into quarks, all under one symmetry. He's candid about why string theory still divides physicists, chiefly that nobody can yet test it, while explaining why he thinks it has outlasted every rival attempt at unifying Einstein's universe with the quantum one.
