In 1995 Doug attended a drumming workshop and his love of Africa was born. The following year he set off for Africa to film elephants across the continent for a BBC documentary, and to West Africa to study music of the Djembe. He eventually gave up his career as a BBC documentary producer in 2000 to set up Sewa Beats International.
As company director, Doug facilitates a broad range of programs in multinationals, sports teams, leading business schools and NGO’s with a global reach.
Trained as an NLP Master Practitioner and a Transformational Breath trainer and as a student of Vocal Awareness, Doug’s professional development has included trips to West Africa, extensive coaching, shamanic healing, emotional release work and the continuing study and practice of both Yoga and meditation.
His ‘Do You Speak Djembe?’ concept has been warmly received around the globe. He has taken part in charity projects helping to improve the lifestyle and wellbeing of people in disadvantaged villages, including building solar panels, interactive events and education programmes.
