One of Britain’s most experienced, versatile and recognisable sports broadcasters, Hazel Irvine has led presentation teams for over 30 years on a huge range of sports and events on BBC television, ITV and Channel 4. An adept live host and facilitator, she is versatile, professional, engaging and knowledgeable.

Hazel has worked on 15 Olympic Summer and Winter Games since 1988. She presented from both London 2012 and Rio 2016 - two landmark Games which also firmly solidified her place as an international commentator. Moreover, her breadth of experience also covers 7 Commonwealth Games since 1994.

She has presented and reported on countless live events, including golf’s Open Championship and The Masters, football World Cups and European Championships, World Snooker Championship from the Crucible Theatre, World athletics championships, Ski Sunday, Wimbledon, and the London Marathon, and Channel 4's pioneering women's football progamming in the late 1980s.

Hazel was part of the week-long coverage of the 60th anniversary of the D-Day landings in 2004 and several magazine programmes such as “The Air Show”, “Feeling Good” and “Outside Now”.

Much in demand for corporate work, Hazel has acted as MC at the Royal Television Society’s Sports Awards, the industry’s most prestigious event. She was named Sports Presenter of the Year at the RTS Sports Awards of 2007. Before that she was the recipient of the RTS Award for Best Regional Presenter/Reporter in 1999.She led the presentation of the BBC’s BAFTA award-winning coverage of the Berlin World Athletics Championship in 2009.

As one of the very first female sports presenters in the country since 1987, Hazel has been at the heart of a story that has seen a transformation in the role and profile of women in broadcasting.

This has given her a fascinating story to tell as a popular keynote speaker and she is also in demand as an entertaining after-dinner speaker. Hazel has acted as compere at numerous awards ceremonies and makes a brilliant conference facilitator for top organisations such as UK Sport.

A graduate of the University of St Andrews, Hazel has an MA Honours degree in Art History. She also has representative honours in golf, netball and athletics and gained a full vest for athletics from Scottish Universities. In addition, she is the Chairman of the West of Scotland Institute of Sport and is proud to be the Honorary President of the Dumbarton Football Club Supporters’ Association.
