Working mainly in the marketing communications field, Kim Walker has held senior management positions in Singapore, Hong Kong, New York and Tokyo. Prior to his role at SILVER, he was President and CEO Asia for a leading global advertising network.
He is a respected leader with proven success in corporate and entrepreneurial start-up environments in the region.
Kim has launched three of his own highly successful ventures, based in Tokyo, London and Singapore. Each of the three businesses he has started have been ‘first movers’ in the country, region or world. His company in Japan, was bestowed “Global Media Innovator” award by Advertising Age Global magazine in 2000. He has been on both sides of the M&A table having first sold his business in Japan to a London PLC then lead corporate acquisitions and/or established green field start-ups across Asia including Korea, Philippines, China, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand and India.
Kim spent his entire advertising career targeting consumers from teens to housewives in their late 30’s – but never older. However, on reaching 50 himself, he realised that the baby boomer consumers like him had grown older and were out of the scope of marketers. A United Nations, World Population Ageing Report in 2007 caught his eye: “Population ageing is unprecedented, a process without parallel in the history of humanity”. The marketing world was obsessed with younger markets and so SILVER was launched to help companies capture this overlooked opportunity.
Kim has delivered keynote speeches at scores of marketing industry functions from New York to Tokyo, Delhi to Manila, Singapore to Seoul. He is an entertaining and persuasive speaker.
