Tom Allen is a comedian, writer and actor. He started as a stand-up at the age of twenty-two and went on to win both So You Think You’re Funny in Edinburgh and the BBC New Comedy Awards in the same year. Since then he has honed his unique style of sharp, acerbic wit and camp, riotous storytelling by performing to audiences all over the UK and around the world.

Tom is a regular face on our screens, having appeared in BBC2’s The Review Show (presenter), The Stephen K Amos Show, Big Brother’s Little Brother, TNT Show and Law of the Playground.

He has made several appearances on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, The Great British Bake Off’s Extra Slice as well as the John Bishop Show, Virtually Famous and Channel 4’s Comedy Gala at the O2.

He has also appeared on Just a Minute, including the 50th episode alongside Prince Charles, and on the BBC’s iconic Live at the Apollo.

Tom recorded the Edinburgh special of Loose Ends and was featured in Radio 4 Extra’s round up of the fringe, and he voiced Frankensend in E4’s recent hit series Bad Robots alongside Michael Gambon.

He has performed his stand-up show Both Worlds at The Stand Comedy Club in Edinburgh and his live chat show at The Pleasance Courtyard to packed audiences and received rave reviews. In the past, Tom has performed at Montreal’s Just For Laughs as well as Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne Comedy Festivals and has supported Reggie Watts and Eugene Mirman in the US.

He previously supported Sarah Millican on her sold-out tour of Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

Tom has written articles for The Scotsman, The Independent, The Lady and The Guardian and contributed material to The Now Show and Mock the Week whilst Attitude Magazine called him a gay role model.

He played Pip Bin in Radio 4’s Sony Award-winning Bleak Expectations and as an actor has also guest starred in Comedy Central’s Threesome, BBC’s Sensitive Skin with Joanna Lumley and Fear of Fanny with Mark Gatiss and Julia Davis. Film includes Colour Me Kubrick with John Malkovich, Starter for Ten with James McEvoy and the Stephen Frears film, Tamara Drew.

Very much in-demand on the live circuit, appearing at clubs ranging from Highlight to Banana Cabaret and Up the Creek to Comedy Cafe, Tom is adept at crowd-pleasing both comedy-savvy, intimate audiences and the larger, brasher, stag/hen friendly venues; there isn’t a promoter or fellow comic who doesn’t adore him!
