A challenge set by ITV1 to become a world rally championship co-driver saw Lee launch herself as a force to be reckoned with in the motoring world and on prime time TV.

In just 3 months she trained, qualified and won her class at Wales Rally GB: arguably the toughest championship in the world. A few months later she was taking on the snow and ice of the Norwegian championship!

Her first job at 15, whilst still at school, was with her local newspaper reporting on rugby matches from where she was also given her own column Horsing around with Lee McKenzie. Having completed her degree in journalism Lee cut her television teeth starting as a trainee and was rapidly made anchor of the 6 O’Clock News for Border Television where she covered a variety of high impact stories including the Lockerbie Trial.

Lee was a presenter on Sky Sports News as well as fronting A1GP - the World Cup of Motorsport’s international coverage travelling almost 200,000 miles a season to bring all the news and interviews to the viewers. She was the first female lead presenter of a UK F1 show, and the first female recipient of the Jim Clark

A regular face at sporting events all over the world on Sky Sports and other channels, Lee has covered most major sports events from tennis to the Grand National and from Formula One to football. She was one of the first faces on At the Races – Channel 4 and Sky’s venture into horse racing. She was the main presenter of the live ITV day time show Speed Sunday, which saw over a hundred people cramming in each week in the live audience. All the while Lee has kept in touch with her roots as a writer penning the occasional feature or opinion piece. Lee is now writing a series of children’s books indulging her long held passion for nature and the environment.

Lee now also presents live coverage on Channel 4 and around the world of W Series, a global motorsport series for female racing drivers.
