Jimmy’s fame stems from his reputation as one of TV’s funniest warm-ups. Getting audiences in the mood on Channel 4's Deal or No Deal; ITV's Loose Women; BBC Three's Two Pints and Coming of Age and Channel 5's The Justin Lee Collins Show, propelled him into the spotlight and secured his prominent position as headline act at comedy festivals across the UK.
In 2005, the unknown young funnyman reached the finals of the prestigious 'BBC New Talent' competition and performed in the Amused Moose Hot Starlets Showcase at the Edinburgh Festival. From there, theatres and comedy clubs came calling and universities across the UK and beyond were booking him for student nights.
Jimmy’s TV talents were confirmed after a lauded performance on BBC 3 with Russell Howard on Good News, and he also presented the Dave Gorman radio show on Absolute Radio; gave his voice to ITV mobile cartoons and supported Chris Addison and Simon Bird on tour.
Jimmy’s first solo show, 'Jimmy McGhie’s Northern Meeting', was a huge hit at the Edinburgh Fringe, and the rest is history…
