Nirmalya Kumar

World-class consultant, coach and marketing Professor Nirmalya Kumar is one of the world's leading thinkers on strategy and  marketing . His teaching tenures have included the London Business School; Harvard Business School; IMD (Switzerland) and The Kellogg School of Management.

Nirmalya’s best-selling books include Business Press: Marketing as Strategy; Private Label Strategy; India Inside, and India’s Global Powerhouses.

Uniquely for a marketing professor, he has published six articles each in the Journal of Marketing Research and a further six in the Harvard Business Review, all of which have attracted thousands of citations on Google Scholar and on the Social Science Citation Index.

As well as an academic and an author, Nirmalya is a consultant, coach, and conference speaker, and has worked prolifically and all over the world at the highest level. He has also served on several boards of directors.

Graduating top of his class of 5,251 students from Calcutta University, Nirmalya has an MBA from the University of Illinois, and a PhD in marketing from Kellogg Graduate School of Management, where he won the Alden G. Clayton Award for his PhD dissertation.

His work has been honoured with a plethora of awards and accolades, including six European case (ECCH) adoption awards, and top spot in the Speaking.com ‘top marketing speakers’ list. Placed 6th on the list of Global Indian Thought Leaders, Nirmalya was also referred to as a ‘rising superstar’ in the Economist.

Nirmalya is also a passionate supporter of the arts and owns the largest private collection of paintings by Jamini Roy and Rabindranath Tagore, the first Asian to win a Nobel Prize.
