Essex-born Alan Davies had cemented himself in the comedy industry before making the crossover to television.
He secured his first stand-up job five months after leaving college and subsequently made countless stand-up appearances on television, but struggled for several years before achieving accredited mainstream success.
After winning the Time Out Award for Best Comic in 1991, Alan had his foot through the door and work offers began to increase. In 1995, he appeared on the spoof travel show, One for the Road. From here he secured his own radio show and eventually launched into his acting career.
First appearing in Jonathan Creek in 1997 and A Many Splintered Thing in 1998, his performance achieved critical acclaim. Jonathan Creek is still a highly acclaimed series.
Maintaining his links with comedy, Alan presented a documentary series on stand-up comedians in 2000. He has taken his own stand-up shows to Edinburgh Fringe festivals and he has performed at prestigious venues such as The Apollo.
For over a decade Alan has been a permanent panellist bring the world of comedy into uproarious rapture with his sharp and witty gags. Transferring his stand-up comedy to the corporate world, Alan would make a brilliant after-dinner entertainer or awards host.
