Author of a textbook on Global Health, he is also a member of the International Group of the Swedish Academy of Science and of the Global Agenda Network of the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

Co-founded of the Gapminder Foundation, Hans promotes a fact based world view by modifying data into interactive, compelling, engaging and energetic graphics. He uses the Trendalyzer software, which was bought by Google in 2007.

Using charming animations to depict serious subjects, Hans delivers lectures about economic, social and environmental changes in the world, which are unique and have garnered countless awards from institutions around the world.

Hans makes five points about global trends:

1.    192 countries on a continuum of socio-economic development have replaced the old idea of two types of countries, developed and developing
2.    Some Asian countries now develop twice as fast as European countries
3.    A new gap may form between 5 billion people moving towards healthy lives and over 1 billion people cemented in the vicious cycle of poverty and disease.
4.    Much of the improvements on Earth have been achieved at the expense of increased CO2 emissions.
5.    There are enormous opportunities to improve the life of all humans by creating a free, stable and sustainable world with good leadership.
