The BBC's Political Editor since July 2015, Laura has also fronted 5 Live, The Politics Show on BBC 2 and the Westminster hour on Radio 4 and previously worked at ITV as Business Editor.
Laura was born in Italy and grew up in Glasgow. Before studying history at Edinburgh University, she spent a gap year studying and working in Paris. She also studied for a year at Georgetown University in Washington DC where she worked on an NBC political programme.
As chief Political Correspondent for the BBC Laura won acclaim for her coverage of the 2010 General Election and the formation of the Coalition government. Other major stories Laura has covered include Barack Obama's Presidential campaign; the build-up to the Iraq war; and the accession of the Eastern European countries into the EU from Prague, Warsaw and Berlin.
Laura leads all business coverage for ITV News, providing analysis of the latest business stories, both in the UK and internationally.
In 2014 she joined Newsnight as their Chief Correspondent and presenter.
Laura's ambition is to own a Labrador, but living in a small London flat and being on the road most of the week makes that impossible for the time being.
