Simon Callow

Actor, writer and director, known for playing some of history's most iconic roles, Simon Callow is one of the biggest stars in the business. Critically acclaimed for both his work on and off screen, Simon truly masters everything he turns his hand to. His vast and brilliant career means he can share witty anecdotes with his audiences, making him the perfect after-dinner speaker. Charming and dynamic, Simon is a perfect choice. 

Simon Callow, famous actor, director and writer, has appeared in many films, including the hugely popular Four Weddings and a Funeral. He trained at the Drama Centre in London and has since come to be greatly associated with the work of Charles Dickens. In addition to playing the writer on stage, film and television, Simon has also performed some of Dickens’ theatre pieces: Dr Marigold & Mr Chops, and A Christmas Carol.

Simon is a highly acclaimed author, some of his books include Being an Actor, Shooting the Actor, biographies of Charles Dicken and Oscar Wilde and a biography of Charles Laughton, Love is Where it Falls, an account of his friendship with Peggy Ramsay the great playwright agent. He also regularly writes for The Guardian.

As a stage actor, Simon has played some of the theatre’s most iconic roles. These have ranged from Titus Andronicus, Mozart in Amadeus and Faust to Oscar Wilde in The Importance of Being Oscar, Captain Hook and Pozzo in Waiting for Godot, opposite Sir Ian McKellen, Ronald Pickup and Patrick Stewart.

Simon has also worked in TV, some of his credits include Henry Palmer in The Rebel, The Duke of Sandringham in the television series Outlander, Galavant and The Life of Rock with Brian Pern.

Alongside his many theatrical and literary talents, he has also written and directed opera productions.
